genre & target audience research

source: target audience for drama films

why i'm researching this:

i don't think i have to elaborate much on this, it's pretty self explanatory why i need to research these two topics ..

genre:

my idea fits into the drama box the most. two main conventions of drama films are relatable & engaging topics. the concept of heartbreak is definitely relatable, and my depiction of it will hopefully be engaging. 

general tips:

- well developed plot

- multi dimensional characters

- a strong moral message

- thought/emotion provoking

target audience:

the target audience of drama films are people who want to be wrapped up in a suspenseful, complex story that is also relatable to them. this film will be targeted to people ranging from early teens to early adulthood, as that is where heartbreak usually occurs. obviously people can experience heartbreak throughout their whole lives and i will try to structure the plot to not include scenes taking place in school to not take older audiences out of the experience (for lack of better words), but for this particular film i'm gonna try to push it to 15-25 year olds.
