This Week's Research
Suicide:
Drowning:
The drowning itself will not be shown, so my research focused on what a body looks like after drowning so the costume design could be fitted to that. Decomposition changes in bodies recovered from water says that the most noticeable physical changes are the wrinkling of hands and feet, goose flesh, vascular marbling, dark discoloration, bloating, and putrefaction. However, I will only be able to do wrinkling, (maybe) marbling, and discoloration as we don't have access to body suits or clay. I would include the pictures I saw but that is disgusting so I think that's it for today's research. Examples of makeup will be included in a post later on.
Fight Club:
Spoilers ahead so if you haven't watched Fight Club .. sorry. 23 years too late. Anyways, in Fight Club there are two main characters (arguably 3 but that's not the point): the Narrator (Edward Norton), or Jack, and Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt). Tyler Durden is Jack's alternate personality but that is not revealed until the end because it's the plot twist, so Tyler is presented as a whole other person throughout the movie. He is introduced 2/3rds into the movie, but beforehand there are flashes of him seen throughout the first third of the movie. This is a small piece of the incredible foreshadowing but important to develop the slow development of Tyler overpowering Jack.
example 1: tyler behind Bob (another character) |
example 2: tyler behind a doctor |
I'm thinking of using this in relation to Meredith taking over Patti. Differences are that Meredith is not an alternate personality rather than a memory, but the idea that she is 'taking over' Patti's brain like Tyler took over Jack's is there.
