planning & focus on mise-en-scene

general updates

Hey blog, it's been a minute since I've updated. I haven't been in class all week because I've been sick so I have no class meeting updates, but here's the beginning of the shaping of the miscellaneous document I'm hoping to maintain to keep all my information collected. I had to zoom out to fit everything so I made the photo large since the text is small. Can you see it? I hope so :(

creating pieces of a puzzle

One thing I want to focus on is mise-en-scene elements that weave the plot together, I want film buffs to see the film and know why I used certain colors or phrasing. My main inspiration, for lack of better words, is the Knives Out series; how if you rewatch after knowing who the murderer is (or really just pay attention the first time) you can see clues that seemed obvious in retrospect, for example in Glass Onion Benoit Blanc having a copy of Cain's Jawbone (1) and Birdie Jay wearing a thin, probably not CDC approved mask (2). Seemingly insignificant at first sight, the two choices suggest what type of person they each are. Blanc is someone who rearranges pieces in place (similar to Jawbone plot), and Birdie is someone who pretends to follow rules but in reality does not.

Right now I only have the bedsheets of the character changing colors after she accepts that she must break up with her boyfriend and chooses to move on and start a new life. Anticlimactic, I know, but I'll work on more.
